Good to Know
La Chocolatera is inside the Naval Base. Bring a valid ID (cédula or passport). Free entry, open most days.
Punta Carnero has a strong rip current. It looks swimmable. It isn't. Watch from the headland.
Whale season runs June through September. Any viewpoint facing northwest works. Ballenita's Mirador Caracol is the best on the peninsula.
Cycling the coastal road between Salinas and La Libertad is pleasant in the early morning before traffic builds.
Sunset is best from the western end of the Salinas malecón or from the Ancón cliffs. Faces due west — no obstructions.
