ECUAWIKI âș PLACES TO VISIT âș CHULLUYPE
Chulluype is a small coastal community located between Salinas and Ballenita on the southern coast of the Santa Elena Peninsula. It is a quiet, working-class fishing and residential area with limited tourist infrastructure, but offers a more authentic look at daily Peninsula life away from the resort atmosphere of Salinas.
The Beach
Chulluype has a small, rocky-to-sandy beach used primarily by local fishermen. The beachfront is less developed than Salinas or La Libertad, with a handful of simple homes and a small fishing pier or boat launch area.
Community Character
The community is primarily Ecuadorian families â both long-established local fishing families and newer residents from the region. There are small tiendas (corner stores), a school, and local services.
Getting There
Chulluype sits along the road between Salinas and La Libertad / Ballenita. Buses on the La LibertadâSalinas route pass through; ask to be dropped near Chulluype. The drive from Salinas centro takes approximately 5â10 minutes.
