Walking the Dog La Península
Early morning on any beach before vendors arrive — Chipipe is the quietest and least congested. Dogs are part of life on the peninsula.

Best Routes

Dogs are common companions on the beaches and malecones of the peninsula. The best times are early morning (6–8am) before beach vendors set up and foot traffic increases.

Spot Notes
Chipipe beach (Salinas) Quietest end of Salinas; fewer vendors; good early morning access
Salinas malecón (early morning) Wide promenade; busier but large enough to share
Ballenita beach Less crowded than Salinas; good for longer beach walks
Punta Blanca Remote, almost entirely empty — best for off-lead runs

Notes

  • Dogs should be leashed in populated beach areas out of courtesy to other users
  • Water and shade are scarce — carry water for your dog, especially in beach season (Dec–May)
  • Veterinary services are available in Salinas and La Libertad
