Conditions & Tips
- Best time: Early morning (6–8am) before afternoon heat and coastal wind
- Wind: The dry season (Jun–Nov) brings strong afternoon winds — headwinds on the return trip westward
- Road surface: Coastal road is generally paved and in reasonable condition; watch for potholes and speed bumps
- Bike hire: Rental bikes are available seasonally in Salinas — ask on the malecón; quality varies. Bring your own for reliability.
- Safety: Share the road with buses and trucks on the main coastal road; use lights if riding at dawn
