Routes

Route Distance Terrain Notes
Salinas malecón (full length) 4 km one way Flat paved path Main running strip; best before 8am before heat and foot traffic
Salinas–La Libertad coastal road ~7 km one way Flat road with pavement Quieter early morning; road-running along the coast
Ancón cliff paths Variable Rocky trail Clifftop paths above the Pacific; scenic, some uneven terrain
Chipipe seafront 1–2 km Flat promenade Quieter end of Salinas; less crowded
Ballenita malecón ~1 km Flat Short but scenic; can extend along the coastal road

Conditions

  • Best time: Early morning (6–8am) before the afternoon wind and heat build
  • Temperature: 18–28°C year-round at the coast; cooler and windier in the dry season (Jun–Nov)
  • Sun: High UV even on overcast days — run with sunscreen and a hat
  • Traffic: Coastal road has vehicle traffic; stick to the malecón pedestrian path where possible
