The gas terminal

Monteverde is home to Ecuador's national LPG terminal: tankers unload liquefied petroleum gas offshore and it is piped inland. The canton's plan puts the investment at about USD 571 million, with around 30 local jobs.

Did you know…?
🚌 …every bus up the coast leaves from Terminal Sumpa and stops in every village on the way?

The beach

At about 2 km, Monteverde's beach is one of the longest on this stretch of coast and much quieter than its neighbours.
