The same afternoon thermal wind that drives [[Kitesurfing (La Peninsula)|kitesurfing]] on Salinas Bay makes any open beach on the peninsula excellent for traditional kite flying. The wind builds reliably from around noon during the dry season (June–November) and is consistent on the bay side.

Kites are sold by vendors in Salinas, particularly during high season. Bring string and a good-quality kite for the strongest wind days.
