== How the water gets here ==<br />
Water from the Daule river flows through the Chongón reservoir to the Sube y Baja and El Azúcar reservoirs, which together hold about 70 million m³. From there it goes on to the Atahualpa treatment plant and into the taps of Salinas, La Libertad and Santa Elena. The system has worked since 1999. See [[Water Supply on the Peninsula]].<br />
