Geocaching La Península
Active caches around Salinas and La Libertad — check geocaching.com for current listings before you visit.

Overview

Geocaching is possible on the Santa Elena Peninsula. A small number of active geocaches have been placed in the Salinas and La Libertad area, accessible via the Geocaching.com platform and app.

How to Find Caches

  1. Create a free account at geocaching.com or download the Geocaching app
  2. Search for caches near Salinas, Ecuador or La Libertad, Ecuador
  3. Filter by difficulty and terrain rating suitable for beach and urban environments
  4. Navigate using GPS to the cache coordinates

Notes

  • Cache density is low compared to major tourist destinations — expect a small number of hides
  • The terrain is mostly flat and urban/beach-based; no difficult approaches required
  • Always return caches to exactly where you found them and re-hide carefully
  • Bring a pen for signing physical logbooks
