== The fishery ==
Boats from Anconcito and nearby [[Puerto de Santa Rosa (Salinas)|Santa Rosa]] fall into three groups: mother ships that tow groups of small boats for dorado, albacore and skipjack; fibreglass boats for dorado and bottom fish (congrio, pargo, cherna); and sardine seiners (''chinchorreros''). About 70% of Anconcito's fishers work independently or for traders who finance the trip. Theft of engines at sea is a problem the fishers have long reported.
