The Malecón de Anconcito is the waterfront area of the small fishing port town of Anconcito, located on the southern coast of the Santa Elena Peninsula. Unlike the tourist-oriented malecones of Salinas, Anconcito's waterfront is a working fishing port, offering an authentic glimpse into the Peninsula's artisanal fishing culture.

== Anconcito's Fishing Heritage ==

Anconcito is one of the most active fishing ports on the Peninsula. The harbor hosts a fleet of colorful panga boats (small fiberglass vessels) and larger fishing craft. Early mornings see the most activity as fishermen return with overnight catches or set out for the day.

The catch includes corvina, dorado, shrimp, squid, and various reef fish. Some of the freshest seafood on the Peninsula comes from Anconcito's fishermen.

== The Waterfront ==

The malecón area at Anconcito includes:
* A small harbor and boat launch area
* Seafood processing (artisanal)
* Simple restaurants serving fresh fish and ceviche
* Views over the Pacific and the fishing fleet

The surrounding community has its own distinct character — a working-class fishing town that has been less touched by tourism than other Peninsula communities.

== Getting There ==

Anconcito is approximately 15 km south of La Libertad via the coastal road. Buses connecting La Libertad and southern coastal communities pass near Anconcito. A taxi from La Libertad is the most comfortable option.
