The dry season (June–November) brings the '''Garúa''' — a period of persistent coastal wind, mist, and overcast skies driven by the Humboldt Current. While this season is less sunny, the consistent southerly winds are perfect for kite flying. Wind speeds of 15–25 km/h are typical; stronger on clifftops.

The wet season (December–May) is calmer and less suitable for kite flying.
